While it’s common to pair bacon with cereal, have you ever tried cereal with bacon? On the other hand, you’re lucky.
The new product from Hormel, the food giant based in Minessota that makes all your favourite canned meats, is a unique blend of sweet and salty flavours. It features Hormel’s Black Label Bacon with General Mills’ Cinnamon Toast Crunch cereal.
The exclusive offering is made by hand-rubbing Cinnadust (yep, that’s the actual phrase) onto thick-cut bacon and letting it sit overnight to achieve “optimal flavour.”
The end product is bacon that is both crunchy and sweet, with a hint of cinnamon, sugar, salt, and bacon flavour. You could compare it to Millionaire’s Bacon, except with Cinnamon Toast Crunch’s (RIP) Chef Wendell instead of a Hollywood star. The flavour profile may be unfamiliar to most of us, but according to Hormel, the combination is “iconic.”
According to Aly Sill, senior brand manager for Hormel Black Label Bacon, “We went big with our first-ever co-branded bacon product.” Sill explained that the pairing of Normal Black Label Bacon and Cinnamon Toast Crunch cereal is as iconic as it gets. “For every meal, we’re bringing our fans bacon that is bursting with flavour and seasoned with Cinnadust.”
According to Brandon Tyrrell, senior marketing manager for Cinnamon Toast Crunch cereal, “Blasting Black Label bacon with our Cinnadust seasoning blend is a no-brainer to deliver the epic flavour our fans love in even more ways.” Tyrrell added that the combination of sweet and savoury is a classic one, and that adding bacon to the cereal made it even easier to sell.
Starting on September 16th, you can pick up a package of that “blasted” bacon at some Walmart stores if you’re interested in trying it. Also, while supplies last, you may find the brand at some Kroger stores.
And Hormel offers suggestions if you’re already planning how to eat that bacon. The bacon manufacturer has previously shared a “breakfast that packs a punch” that resembles Elvis’s favourite meal: a peanut butter and banana sandwich with thick-cut bacon flavoured with Cinnamon Toast Crunch.
According to Hormel, the treat is the ideal way to start the day since it combines sweet, salty, and savoury flavours in a perfectly balanced manner. It is also an entirely acceptable adult lunch. It also proposes having a couple slices with some traditional French toast or using them to wrap a slice of bacon inside a can of chilled cinnamon rolls to make them more appetising. Of course, I would be happy to help.
Cinnadusted bacon isn’t going to be the only kind of bacon we try in the future, either. With more tasty collaborations and limited-time items in 2025 and beyond, Hormel promises that it “will continue to bring fans the unexpected.”
Is it possible that cereal may be sprinkled on bacon? On the other hand, is it finally bacon time for Flamin’ Hot Cheetos? The outcome will be determined by the passage of time.
