In all honesty, a Burger King fan can have their way with everything.
Beginning in February, the fast-food chain held a contest in which customers were able to submit their own Whopper recipes. Now, customers are able to sample the recipes that were selected as the winners.
Burger enthusiasts participated in Burger King’s very first Million Dollar Whopper Contest, in which they submitted the ingredients for their ideal Whopper in the hopes of winning one million dollars and having their sandwich sold in restaurants across the country for a select period of time.
After reviewing more than one million submissions from customers who “let their imaginations run wild,” Burger King and its “team of flame-grilled experts” have ultimately decided on three finalists for the competition.
Diners will have the opportunity to vote for their favorite Whopper, which will be available at participating restaurants across the country while supplies last later this fall. The three Whoppers that were created by fans will be available. The grand prize will be awarded to the finalist who received the most votes for their idea that was worth one million dollars.
This is the list of the finalists that was selected:
Fried Pickle Ranch Whopper: Served on a toasted sesame seed bun, the Fried Pickle Ranch Whopper is comprised of a quarter-pound beef patty that is topped with pickle ranch, lettuce, fried pickles, bacon, and Swiss cheese. Designed by Fabian, who hails from California.
Maple Bourbon BBQ Whopper: Maple Bourbon BBQ Whopper is a sandwich consisting of a quarter-pound beef patty that is topped with maple bourbon BBQ sauce, crispy onions and jalapeños, maple bacon seasoning, bacon, and American cheese. It is served on a toasted sesame seed bun. Calvin from California is the creator of this.
Mexican Street Corn Whopper: A toasted sesame seed bun is used to create the Mexican Street Corn Whopper, which consists of a quarter-pound beef patty that is topped with street corn spread, lettuce, tomato, tortilla crisps seasoned with Southwest spices, and Mexican spicy queso. Produced by Kelsie, who hails from Montana.
The submissions to the Million Dollar Whopper Contest were so creative and well-thought-out that they left Burger King North America’s chief marketing officer, Pat O’Toole, speechless. “The contest was all about taking ‘Have It Her Way’ to the next level,” he added. “The Whoppers that had been submitted were incredible.”
“It was not an easy task to select just three finalists, but we are confident that our customers will love these inventive and delectable takes on the iconic Whopper sandwich, and we can’t wait for them to be available in restaurants this fall,”

The Whopper was introduced for the first time in 1957 and quickly became a signature item on the menu of Burger King. Since then, it has even been referred to as a “cultural icon.”
